I am offended by this website of yours. I have a dozen official evaluations
that give a picture quite different from that of the unknown student who
posted his/her own evaluation without signing it... I will certainly not
defend myself on a website that does not even bother to check the veracity
of content posted by students for potentially retaliatory purposes...

You call yourselves "ordinary people". Interesting, most (decent) people
don't promote lies and slander. Do you get paid for running this site to
pay your bills and raise your kids like teachers do? I think we should
rate your skills and abilities on a rating scale. By the comments I'm
reading on-line you would not fare too well. Do you have the courage to
respond???????

As you have noticed, many parents seem to dislike this site.Maybe change it
around a little? I want to be a teacher when I'm older.Do you think I would
like to be rated like this? Please stop this foolishness.

I find these comments on my teaching malicious and out of context. I want
them removed immediately. I was a new art teacher at a school. Kids don't
easily accept a new teacher, especially if he or she is replacing one they
were found of. I know my value. My work is so hard, art is a difficult
subject to teach successfully. I succeed. I despise not the kids, but this
site which doesn't provide a dialogue with the ones who complain without
the ability to make a fair judgement.

What you need to add to balance this site
is another for "Rate my Students" !!!

This would allow readers to see both sides
of the coin.

I am a teacher and noticed that one of the criteria for being rated is
"easiness" which does not necessarily reflect the quality of the teacher.
You can have a teacher who is very easy in terms of grading but then
students may not learn anything so it is not a good criteria to determine
his or her quality. I have had challenging teachers who are hard but they
were good and I learned a lot - but that cannot be reflected on this site
at all. What happens if a teacher is hard but good? Does this teacher
deserve a lower rating from an easy teacher from whom one does not learn
much or prepare for college well?

Also - I would like to see an additional section where students are asked
to make suggestions of how each teacher can improve their teaching by
giving multiple choice answers they can choose from, including "other"
where they can write their own comments. There are too many comments from
students where they are not clear enough when describing teachers'
strengths and weaknesses and only want to vent (remember these are K-12
and not college students).

My friend (as a laugh) posted a rating and a comment about me on the
site... it was quite funny, even though very offensive. It just goes to
show that ANYONE can make a comment on this site, even if you've never
taught them. For all I know, if I anger a nieghbour, they can make a
comment pretending to be a student just to get revenge. If you cannot
regulate your creation, then it's unethical and shouldn't be online. Just
admit you are doing this for money, and don't pretend you are providing a
service... you will have earnt a small amount of respect from me in that
case.

I have just read over the comments left on the user comments page. It seems
as though the majority of the pro RMT comments are from the people who
maintain the site. Why should I have to give all my details if students
can give theirs anon? Ah well... I'll ask watchdog.

This is to everyone who is bashing this site on the user comments page.

This site is designed specifically for students to give feedback on the TEACHING ABILITY of their teachers. Rude comments, profanity, comments about appearence, etc. are not allowed at all. If you have problems concerning these, flag the comment. Don't come on this page and yell at everyone else about this. Moderators, such as me, work hard to keep the site clean.

Also, if you are posting because students are saying they don't like you, maybe you should consider trying new things. Students rate you on how likeable you are and your teaching ability. If your students aren't doing well because you are not teaching well, they have every right to let everyone else know that. It is called freedom of speech. You can't take that away from them. That is why this site keeps the identities of the reviewers secret.

If you don't want to hear what children think of you, don't use this site. If you do want to know, than don't complain if it isn't what you want to see.
